The word from team Hillary is that Obama's openness about drug use will come back to bite him in the ass. Maybe it will, but I seriously hope his honesty on the topic is talked about more than his actual drug use. The Clinton camp says more precisely:
Shaheen [Clinton campaign New Hampshire co-chair] said Obama's candor on the subject would "open the door" to further questions. "It'll be, 'When was the last time? Did you ever give drugs to anyone? Did you sell them to anyone?'" Shaheen said. "There are so many openings for Republican dirty tricks. It's hard to overcome."While I do not actively support any candidate, Democrat or Republican, I think honesty about drug use from candidates is a pretty good indication of character. Just because someone actually inhaled and or snorted, doesn't make them a fundamentally flawed human being. If Bush 43 had stood up and said, "Yes I did cocaine....a lot....and it was great...," I might have a modicum of respect for him as a person. The possibility that a successful Republican attack on Obama could come out of this candor has me reaching for the Aquadots.

UPDATE: I just saw this
"I doubt I'd be standing here if I hadn't quit drinking whiskey, and beer and wine and all that," the president disclosed Tuesday [December 11, 2007] to ABC News' Martha Raddatz during an exclusive tour of the White House residence.
The president told ABC News he quit drinking over 20 years ago -- cold turkey.
"I had too much to drink one night, and the next day I didn't have any," Bush said. "The next day I decided to quit and I haven't had a drink since 1986."
"And you did it just cold turkey?" asked Raddatz.
"I'm a better man for it," Bush said.
Really?
